Die vorliegende Arbeit stellt einen Versuch dar, die Postulate einer Theorie des Phraselexikons der deutschen Sprache zu umreißen und einige Wege seiner Untersuchung aufzuzeigen. Dabei wird das Phraselexikon als eigenständiges System innerhalb des Makrosystems der Sprache betrachtet, das phraseosemantische Feld als Baustein des Phraselexikons analysiert und eine onomasiologisch-semasiologische Klassifizierung der Phraseologismen vorgeschlagen, wobei ein besonderes Augenmerk auf die Wechselbeziehungen zwischen Struktur und Semantik sowie die textbildenden Potenzen der Phraseeme gelegt wird.
