This manual is intended for students of higher educational institutions studying in the specialty 60111800 bachelor's degree – Foreign language and literature (English). The theoretical explanations and practical sections of twelve units are designed with the use of advanced pedagogical technologies. Each unit incorporates discussion-based questions aimed at enhancing students' understanding of new topics and introducing them to the key theoretical foundations of stylistics. From both theoretical and practical perspectives, this manual assists learners in mastering essential stylistic concepts such as expressive means of language, the structure of English vocabulary, and lexical, syntactic, and phonetic stylistic devices along with their functions in speech. The primary focus is on developing students' analytical and critical thinking skills, encouraging them to study linguistic levels comprehensively and apply stylistic knowledge effectively in their future scientific and professional endeavors.

Sociolinguistics

Considering the production of speech, it describes how the language system and the rules of constructing utterances allow a person to express his thoughts, how the images of consciousness can be fixed with the help of language signs. Describing the process of speech perception, psycholinguistics analyzes not only this process itself, but also the result of a person's understanding of speech. Speaking about children's speech, psycholinguistics notes that almost no one specifically teaches a child the rules of language use, but he is able to master this most complex tool of thinking in a fairly short period of time. Psycholinguistics describes how inclusion in joint activities with adults allows the child to master the linguistic and non-linguistic "picture of the world" and to form his own linguistic consciousness.
